It's a drizzly, gray Saturday but the sun is peeking through and smiling on those that will be gathering for a celebration of life this afternoon. Family and friends are gathering from far and wide to remember a dear man who's body gave out last Friday. I have one of those families that is so big and far-reaching, it's difficult to figure out how we are all related. Some are more distantly related by marriage but that line is blurred and doesn't matter because we are just family. This man was my "Uncle", and was in my life as far back as I remember. He had a kindly presence and has just always been there. So there will be some tears, stories, many laughs, and a whole lot of hugs today.
Today I'm grateful for sweet memories. The ones you hold in your heart forever and tug at the corners of your mouth until you cannot help but smile.

Just wanted to swing by and see how you were doing on your Giving Thanks list. But you're doing posts? Good for you! So much we take for granted, isn't there? I'm glad you're finding even the smallest blessings in your life!

This must be the time for memories. First, sending healing thoughts to your heart on the loss of your uncle. Second, last evening my great aunt Veronica came to mind and I went back to a time when, as a little girl, she and I had so much fun together - a little girl and a woman over 50 years her senior - but a bond nonetheless.
Sad to hear, and I will be thinking gentle thoughts of healing for you. I have been in a similar space, losing two dear friends in one week and heading out to a memorial service this afternoon. I am glad you have so many sweet memories to help ease the loss.
Sweet memories -- I love this one. I'm sorry for your loss. I come from a big family, too, and it's one of the bittersweet parts -- lots of hellos and too many goodbyes.
So thankful for memories too. Hope you have a blessed time remembering a good man.
Is that your beautiful smile?
